Hunting Kudu

Today my Pastor took me north to bushmen land to hunt Kudu. I have not hunted in a long time, but never like this. Hunting in the woods back home is one thing, but hunting in the bush is difficult at best.

The bush is full of snakes, scorpions, thorn bushes and thorn trees. But it was a great experience. As we were out hunting we came across two giraffe grazing, a male and a female. They were not scared of us at all and let us get really close.

I had a great shot at a bull with large horns, and we tracked it after the shot for an hour and a half, tracking its path of blood and tracks. The shot must not have penetrated well, because we never found it. So just before dark, around 6:15 three more came up to a water hole, and I got my first Kudu. This meat will feed us for at least 6 months, and it is great meat!

We also ran across some wild boar as well. It was a long hard day, 12 hours to be exact, but a great experience.

Here are some pictures of the bush, the giraffe, wart hog and my kill.

OMG! we're so excited so see all your pics! I'm just getting the hang of the blog thing, with katy's help :-) I don't know where to start--your enthusiasm, knowing what awesome people you're working with and serving, seeing familiar sights, the Kudu.....it's all great. And your right- Kudu is very good. Talk to Anna & Jergen for some recipes! We so want to go back for a visit. katy just did a research paper at school on malnutrition in African children and then gave a speech on it. In the speech she talked all about Linda's work there and the soup kitchen--snuck a little God in there;-)and showed pix of our time there. She did a great job, but best of all God was glorified in her speech! We're going to get a DVD of her giving the speech, I'll get you a copy. How's Kristen doing? She said on FB about having tea with the ladies, augh...I want to be there! We're so happy to be able to follow along on here and email and see what God is doing in that very special place. We would love to hear those talented kids sing in church. Keep posting and know you are such a blessing to so many!
